Styx of the Sundered Heart
Known simply as Styx, this mysterious swordsman plays his cards close to his chest, rarely revealing his true intentions. His inclination to refer to himself with the royal "we" and rarely show his face has lead to a few odd rumors, none of which he has confirmed or denied.
Despite the gossip circulating about him, if you have need of a hired sword, someone to gather info, or just a curious ear for your woes- seek him out, and he may listen... if it suits him at the moment.

Styx's origins are shrouded in carefully mislaid comments and mystery, every question about his past being waved off as unimportant. According to him, all you need to know about him is that he's good with a sword- though, he will participate in small talk if you buy him a drink... maybe.
His almost uncanny ability to read people and his piercing red eyes have left him with an interesting reputation, only added to with his oddly eloquent way of speaking and habit of always covering his face. His barbut isn't the only mask he wears; every facet of his outward personality seems carefully and purposely chosen, his flowery speech reflecting that.
Despite his vocal bravado, self-hatred seeps into Styx's mannerisms, even moreso when he's drunk or in the heat of battle. He can slip into a more cold and crass persona at times, often cursing out his enemies and reveling in the blood he spills.
When around him enough, one thing you will definitely pick up on is his distaste for the Eorzean governing system- and an even deeper hatred for the Garlean Empire. He has quite a bit of knowledge about Ul'dah's Syndicate in particular, and spends some time in the Quicksand to gather info from passersby.
If he's not idling in a tavern somewhere listening to idle gossip, Styx frequents the wilds of Eorzea- either on a job or just out on his lonesome. His penchant for only taking solo jobs and having no clear motivation has not helped his mysterious reputation, not to mention that some people catch him talking to himself when he's supposedly alone...
Styx has an unorthodox method of swordsmanship, weaving heavy strikes between casts of dark magic spells. His blows can be unwieldy at times, but he knows where to hit to make it hurt- often choosing to aim for weak points instead of attacking with brute force. His battle style shifts wildly between underhanded and precise strikes to wear out an enemy, and bouts of pure unbridled bloodknight passion.
His defensive and healing capabilities are fairly decent, though he often focuses those skills towards himself rather than others. He's not entirely selfish, he will protect others if he can, but he considers defending himself to be a higher priority.
When not using his greatsword, he is known to be proficient with knives- both throwing them and using them for quick precise cuts and stabs. His knifeplay is almost ninja-like, though he makes no mention of having practiced the art.
Another skill that hints at a possible background in ninjutsu is his ability to cloak himself in shadows to shield himself from view, which has helped him in many an infiltration mission. Though he does enjoy a good fight, he knows that there's a time and place for wanton violence.
Aside from combat skills, Styx's silver tongue has gotten him out of many a bind- his clever words and knowledge of the inner workings of many places has saved him and others more than once. It could be chalked up to luck, charisma, and pure intellect; but his uncanny knowledge and the way his eyes eerily glow on occasion suggest something else entirely.

Hello! My name is Del, and while I've done other forms of roleplay for years, MMO RPing is rather new to me- though character interaction and development is something I love taking part in.
I am down for short walk-up RPs, but I prefer talking with people before I get into a big scenario with them. I'm willing to try most anything, though, so just ask! Possible RP hooks can be discussed if you have any concerns.
I work during the week and am not always available; most weekends and evenings/late nights (EST) are best for me. Also, please don't take it personally if I turn down an RP, I usually stick to people whose styles/schedules I know well and work best for me.
As a side note, I am an adult- while I'm okay RPing general stuff with anyone, I refuse to RP anything romantic or NSFW with anyone below 18.
